GARY NEVILLE TEARS ARSENAL APART AFTER 4-0 LOSS

Wednesday, September 27th, 2017

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville blamed the whole Arsenal team following their huge loss against Liverpool at Anfield on Super Sunday.

Arsenal were expected to at least put up a decent fight but the Gunnersfell flat on their faces as the Reds attacks proved too hot to handle.

Jurgen Klopp’s men battered Arsene Wenger’s men 4-0, giving them their second straight loss after three Premier League games this season.

Neville tore the Arsenal team into shreds, questioning why Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey would play in central midfield with Alexis Sanchez and MesutOzil just outside them. He blamed Wenger for not paying attention to the opposition in naming his squad.

Neville claimed Arsenal players were very poor in their transition from attack to defence. He said the team struggled to get in shape after losing the ball despite knowing the kind of opposition they were facing. (more…)

DIRK KUYT LIVES THE DREAM

Saturday, July 15th, 2017

Very few – if any – footballers have had a better ecstasy witnessed by Dirk Kuyt as he threw the Eredivisie trophy into the jubilating atmosphere of the city of Rotterdam few weeks ago.

Francesco Totti for one can object, afterall the 40-year old on the last day of the Serie A season and in his last match as a professional footballer, with the score tied at 2-2, scored the last goal to paint off an emotional goodbye to Romans as they wept for the exit of a living monument.

Bring up as many examples you can and still, you will struggle to put a blind eye on the reality so good it sounds more like a fairy tale – a 36-year old veteran scoring a hat trick to lead his boyhood club to a title they failed to win for 18 years.

When Kuyt left Feyenoord for Liverpool big things were expected of him, given how he topped the Eredivisie’s scoring chart. Liverpool was his first stop on his sojourn away from The Netherlands. Although he ended up collecting only one League Cup in 2006despite being largely phenomenal throughout his stay at Anfield. (more…)

LIVERPOOL TO BID FOR VAN DIJK

Tuesday, May 9th, 2017

Premier League side Liverpool FC are already preparing to move past the failures of this season as it ends in a month. Their defence gave them issues this term.

The Reds are reportedly readying a bid to swoop Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.

The Saints’ skipper has a lot of interests in the market so Liverpool want to move in and get his signature as soon as the opportunity presents itself. The price tag for the defender is in the £50 million range but knowing how they badly need a capable person, Anfieldis willing to sit and discuss.

Liverpool are known to be good sellers but they rarely break the bank for players. The deal of Luis Suarez comes to mind. The Reds spent £35 million to get Andy Carroll from Newcastle United in 2011 and it has remained their biggest yet.

Most of the Premier League clubs are keen on landing Van Dijk: Manchester City, Everton, and Chelsea. Arsenal recently joined the race to get the Netherlands international so they could compete against these sides and with Liverpool for his commitment. (more…)

KLOPP MAKING SUMMER PLANS ALREADY

Wednesday, March 29th, 2017

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly making plans for the summer already.

This is despite their brilliant result against Arsenal over the weekend. The Reds have struggled with consistency this term and it has affected their title chances – even a top-four finish is not sure yet.

Klopp is already making plans to add some players to his side. The club has been linked for a while to Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette. The player has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent years: Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are likely destinations.

Lacazette has been in impressive form this year, scoring 22 goals in 23 league appearances. He is priced above £50 million, meaning only the biggest clubs can afford him. (more…)

Jurgen Klopp Says Liverpool Lost Patience against Manchester United

Friday, November 18th, 2016

Liverpool failed to continue their winning run after only a goalless draw with Manchester United at Anfield.

It was a disappointing result for the home team considering that they were expected to win the game quite comfortably and take advantage of the opposition’s current misfortunes. United have been highly inconsistent and the arrival of Jose Mourinho has done little to improve the fortunes. The Portuguese boss, though, has always known how to get results against the top teams and he was at it once again on Monday night.

United came in with a highly defensive formation and they seemed to have the sole intention of stopping the opposition from playing. Liverpool played into the hands of United by being too hectic and losing the patience, according to boss Jurgen Klopp. The former Borussia Dortmund manager has transformed the Liverpool’s fortunes by adopting an attacking style of play. Even though it is only an improvement over the Brendan Rodgers’ philosophy, it has paid rich dividends in the last 12 months. (more…)

Christian Benteke Reflects on His Time at Liverpool

Thursday, September 22nd, 2016

Christian Benteke recently brought his time at Liverpool to an end after making a move to Crystal Palace.

He has become the record signing at the London outfit after having cost almost £ 30 million. Liverpool have been able to recoup most of the transfer fee that they paid for the striker one year ago. Brendan Rodgers expected the Belgian international to be the final piece in the jigsaw. After all, he has scored plenty of goals even with a struggling Aston Villa team and was only expected to be better at Liverpool surrounded by a number of world-class players.

This was not the case as Benteke never settled under the tactics of Rodgers. The Northern Ireland manager is someone who likes to play his football on the ground, while Benteke is at his strongest when the ball is whipped into the box with a lot of pace. The powerful presence of the Belgian couple of with his ability to attack headers made him a force to be reckoned with. Even after the exit of Rodgers midway through the season,Benteke’s situation did not improve since his replacement Jurgen Klopp also had similar tactics. Now, the striker has lashed out on those who have branded him as a flop.

Jurgen Klopp believes that Mane will be a success at Liverpool

Friday, August 12th, 2016

Liverpool has announced that Southampton forward Sadio Mane has signed for the club for a reported fee of £30m.

This is the fourth Southampton player that has joined Liverpool in recent years and fans will be hoping that the player will be a success at Anfield.

However, there are some skeptics that think that this is a lot of money to spend on a player that have yet to make an impression in Europe. Fans will be afraid that Mane turns out to be another Andy Carroll or Christian Benteke, who have never fulfilled their full potential at Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp, on the other hand, believes that Sadio Mane will be a success at Liverpool. He said that he has been following the player for a long time. He said that he has been following his development ever since the 2012 Olympics and also during his time in Austria and also at Southampton.

Daniel Sturridge might be nearing the end of his Liverpool career according to Phil Thompson

Friday, May 13th, 2016

Phil Thompson believes that Daniel Sturridge might be leaving Liverpool soon if ever he is not selected for the game against Villarreal.

Indeed, he was not in the team that started the game against Villarreal, and there is news that he might again not feature from the outset in the return leg. Liverpool lost the first leg 1-0 and did not come on the pitch even after his side conceded.

However, Sturridge did play in the game against Swansea, which his team lost 3-1. Phil Thompson said that Daniel Sturridge body language in the match against Swansea speak volumes about the player’s feeling and feel as if he knew that he was no longer part of Klopp’s plan.

Thompson added that it is never easy to be in this situation and that you always want to have your manager’s backing. He said that Sturridge will be desperate to feature in a game like this and that he will want to have playing time especially with the Euros coming in the summer. If ever he does not feature in the match then it would probably be the end of his Liverpool career as he would probably want to look for another club in the summer. (more…)

LIVERPOOL IN MEGA-MONEY TAKEOVER DEAL

Thursday, April 28th, 2016

English Premier League team, Liverpool FC are reported to be involved in a mega-money takeover bid. The takeover is from the Middle East. According to Starsport, talks are at an advanced stage with prospective owners. The deal is one that would avail current head coach of The Reds huge transfer funds to acquire the best talents and take Liverpool higher.

The deal is reported to be a possibility this summer. English team, Liverpool, currently owned by Fenway Sports Group, is valued around £650m. The American sports investment company bought The Reds for £300m in October 2010. The team has since increased in value. It was ranked the eight most valuable football club by Forbes. The ranking considered top clubs worldwide in the survey but ranked The Reds that much due to the brand built overtime.

The team is currently 9th in the EPL with 2 games in hand. However, the team has had decent performance over the recent time in the league. Liverpool narrowly lost the capital one cup to Manchester city this season. The keenly contested match ended in a penalty shoot-out where their rivals proved better. Simon Mignoletseals his future with Liverpool

Thursday, January 28th, 2016

Simon Mignolet has secured his future with the Premier League club Liverpool at least until 2021 but this is a decision that has brought mixed reactions to the supporters of the English team as Mignolet has certainly made a number of impressive performances but there have been a few occasions in which the Belgian shot-stopper has let down the team.

Consistency is not the strong suit of Mignolet but nonetheless, it seems like everything he has done with Liverpool has been enough for him to secure his long term future in Anfield.

“I’m very pleased that I can be at Anfield and a part of Liverpool for a long future. I know signing a new contract comes with new responsibility. I’m getting older as well and coming into the years where people would say those are the years a ‘keeper is at his best. I know with a long-term contract, you get more responsibility and I want to take up that role because I’m the sort of character that wants to be a leader, wants to speak in the dressing room and wants to help the defence’’ Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet said as he expressed his happiness in signing a contract renewal.

The Belgian goal-keeper struggles when it comes to distributing the ball and trying to command his penalty area as he has made consistent errors throughout the last 3 Premier League seasons which has led to Liverpool dropping points on important matches. (more…)
